Gabriel was born and died June 9, 2004. He was the much awaited and very much adored baby son of Amanda Rowland and Jon
Henson. He had many friends and family awaiting his arrival into the world. Although his stay was brief, it meant so very
much to those who loved him. He will forever be in the hearts of those who were blessed to have known him, no matter how short
his stay with us was
Gabriel's Story
As told by Aunt Lori
My story is a bit diffrent, as I am not a parent of a lost
child but an aunt. Gabriel's mother is my sister in law and I love her very much. We were pregnant at the same time, and I
couldn't wait until my twin girls started kicking so that his mother and I could stick our tummys together and let the babies
kick each other. His mother had an ultrasound and they told her they thought that Gabriel had anencephaly, which is a birth
defect that causes the brain and skull to form incompletely. She was due for another ultrasound to check things out at around
26 weeks. At that ultrasound they discovered my sweet, long awaited nephew had no heartbeat. His mother was induced and he
was born On June 9, 2004. He was very tiny weighting a little over a pound I believe and was only 8 inches long. I saw
him at the funeral home. He was so very tiny, he had a tiny bit of red hair, and little tiny hairs on his chin, which I tugged
and said "not by the hair of my chinny chin chin". They told his mother that he had probably died 2 days or so before
his birth and that he had only formed a brain stem. His death is very hard on his mother. I think of him often
and my heart breaks each time I do. He is missed so very much. I love you Gabriel.
